Don't You Know You're Beautiful!

Have you ever been told “You’re Beautiful” by someone and had the hardest time believing that they truly meant what they said? You feel that they are only saying it because they are your parents, relatives, even your best friends and yet, you still feel almost as if you’re being lied to. Don’t worry if you think you’re the only one, I tend to sometimes feel this way. A lot of times you might look in the mirror at yourself and pick out every detail that you don’t like about the way you look, and it completely obliterates your confidence. For years I have done this, and for years I have been fooling myself into thinking that I’m not beautiful. Because the truth is we are all beautiful!

I know you have probably heard this a thousand times, but truly, we are all beautiful. Take another look into the mirror, what do you see? What you should see is a beautiful creation of God.“ For you created my inmost being; you knit me together in my mother’s womb. I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made.”(Psalms 139:13-14). You are God’s work of art! No one can critique your looks or judge your figure because you are God’s creation and we are all made in the image of God. “So God created mankind in his own image, in the image of God he created them; male and female he created them.” (Genesis 1:27). We are all made in God’s image, and that there is true beauty. After all, why would God want to make ugly? No architect, no fashion designer, no water color or sketch artist would ever want to make a work of art that did not look beautiful. And God is the master of all art and beauty.

And what God truly looks at is not the outside, but the inside. He looks at our hearts, our souls. That is where true beauty is found. “But the LORD said to Samuel, "Do not look at his appearance or at the height of his stature, because I have rejected him; for God sees not as man sees, for man looks at the outward appearance, but the LORD looks at the heart." (1 Samuel 16:7).
So whenever you take a look in the mirror, do not critique your gray hairs, the color of your eyes, the wrinkles on your face, the shape of your body, because the one person to whom your looks really matter already knows that you are B-E-A-UTIFUL!
God Bless!
